![]() ![]() Phantom elevation spikes gone, problem solved though not without headache. AutoCAD Architecture 2023 (Simplified Chinese),8.5.50.0,Autodesk Inc. I told her to just flat out delete all the surface edits in the drawing from top to bottom and start out clean. "Where are all these spikes coming from they're ruining my model!" Turns out, the Designer who worked on the model before her had added about 50+ Add Point and Add Line edits to the surface, and those are STATIC edits, meaning that they always remain in place as they were originally created even if the surface model around them gets revised, which can lead to HUGE problems. Just today I had a co-worker asking me for help because they couldn't figure out why their revised surface model had a bunch of phantom elevation spikes and phantom data points all over the place. The rest of the time, they tend to only be used as a band-aid fix for surface models that wouldn't have needed those edits at all if they were simply built correctly in the first place. In my 10+ years of doing Civil Design, I can count the number of times those commands have been used legitimately on one hand. So you want my Civil 3D hot-take opinion? I think the Civil 3D Surface "Add Line" and "Add Point" edit commands should be LOCKED by default and only accessible upon special request to the CAD Manager. ![]()
